In this two part series, we will provide tips for successfully preparing your AC unit for summer weather. Tips in the first part of this series will focus on the indoor part of your system. For tips for the outdoor part of your system, you may skip ahead to part two of this series.
Check the Thermostat
The first part of your AC system that needs to be checked is the thermostat. First, turn your thermostat off and check it’s condition. If you’ve had it for a number of years, it may be time to consider purchasing a new one. Also, change the battery, if needed.
Replace the Air Filter
Any experienced Brandon AC repair technician will tell you that many AC problems start with worn out filters. Yet, this is a step people often overlook. Filters should be replaced every three months and at the beginning of the summer in Florida because of the amount of use it will get.
Check Ductwork and Vents
In terms of vents, this is a good time to make sure that they are not be blocked by furniture and that they are fully open. For ductwork, check it’s condition. Are they worn? Do see mold? If you see holes, seal them with silver tape. If there’s mold, contact a mold removal service immediately.
